LOLLIPOPS FOREVER!
A royalty-free one-act play by Doreen D'Eath

Puppet plays are more about actions than about words. The fewer words the better. A half hour puppet production can be written up in less than a page. Think MOVEMENT and the sky’s the limit.

Cast:
King Sneezham: retiring king of Sneezy Hollow Prince Sneezum: his bungling son and heir to the throne
Sweetums: the dragon
A Troll: he's, er, a troll
Esmirelda, a Good Fairy

King: I am looking forward to retiring to sunny Florida.. But that can only happen my son when you have returned with the Dragon’s treasure chest and proven your bravery.

Prince: (trembling) Yes, father.

King: You must leave immediately for Snorting Mountain , the highest of the Snotty Volcanoes.

Prince: But father, that will take me through Deep, Dark and Scary Forest where the goblins live.

King: You must go now son. Time is ticking away on my timeshare and the people deserve a new king. Here is a map. Take Wheezer, the dog, with you for protection.

Off they go into the deep, Dark, Scary Forest . Strange noises are heard. Suddenly a troll jumps in stage left and blocks their passage.

Troll: Who goes there!

Prince: It is I Prince Ssneezum and my companion, Wheezer. We are going to Snorting Mountain to find the Dragon’s treasure.

Troll: No passage until you make me laugh.

Prince: Tell 3 jokes of your choice

Troll; (doesn’t laugh)

Wheezer and the prince are unable to move on and must spend the night. Suddenly they are awakened by a twinkling ball of light.

Prince: (screams) Help! What is that!

Light turns into a good fairy. Esmerelda

Esmerelda: I am Esmerelda, the Good Fairy. I want to help you. At the moment dawn arrives you and Wheezer must wake the Troll and do three hip hop dance steps. The Troll will laugh uncontrollably and you can run away safely.

The prince and Wheezer follow the fairy’s instructions and they run into the dark forest.

Creepy noises and funny things spring out from nowhere. A witch plays a trick.

You decide what the trick is and how to escape.

At last they reach the dragon’s castle.

Fire, smoke and strange noises abound.

The dragon isn’t easy to find.

You make up the moves to reach the dragon.

They trick the dragon

You find a trick and rush back through the Scary Forest

The Prince is delighted and shows the treasure box to his father.

The dragon’s treasure is finally theirs!

They open the box. A look of shock and disappointment overcomes them.

King and Prince: Yikes!! There’s no treasure! The box is filled with- LOLLIPOPS!!
